One Love

Please read this post listening to some Bob Marley… "Let's get together and be alright"

A few things have happened in my personal life lately that have "stirred it up." A bit of gossip through work, a misunderstanding between friends, and another parenting matter. After talking with a friend over a cup of coffee and one over knitting, we found our centers again. I have always believed that our hearts always see the truth and beauty in everything, and our minds just mess it up. If we listen to each other through our hearts we will always be happy and content. For example, I know in my heart that the rumor mill at work is unsavory, but I chose to listen to it anyways. It just made me upset. My heart knew the rumor to be untrue. Sometimes it seems like Chinese water torture just wearing me down. But I know I have the strength within my heart to stay strong. Thank you to my friends for helping me find the lessons in life and give me that strength.

Along with the theme of "One Love," I finally have put the needles to this idea floating around in my head for ages. I have wanted to design this Aran sweater for Delaney and Einin for a looong time. Finally I am putting my thoughts into action. Here's a look at what my brainstorming looks like on paper. And an appetizer of what it will be…

Quick and dirty or knitting fun

In high school, one of our French teachers referred to learning the passé compose as a "quick and dirty action."

Well, after focusing on finishing the Notre Dame de Grace Pullover (ravelry link), I needed the instant gratification that only big needles and chunky yarn could give. Pulling from the stash of leftovers, I cast on for EZ's Snail Hat (ravelry link). I really like this pattern because it is a simple form in nature and it is playful and has a sense of humor. It made me itch to start another project from Norah Gaughan's Knitting Nature. Amazon book link / knitting nature rav link.

Yesterday was Ameran's grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary. Wow. That's a crazy long time. I have been reflecting a lot about relationships in light of Valentine's Day and a bit of drama at the workplace. I think of all of the struggles and successes that we have had in 4 years and wonder what it will be like after we have been married for that long.

Random Commentary

I hate it when I can't get my camera out fast enough to document these events occurring.

  1. On our way up to Webs, Mom and I spied a plumbing contractor's pick up with the following motto, "A dry crack is a happy crack." My FIL with chronic hemorrhoids appreciated that one. (and yes, I did have to spell-check hemorrhoids)
  2. An SUV pulling into the "local" McDonald's with a bumper sticker stating "Localvore." Hmpf.
  3. Have any of you seen that holiday/Christmas Enzyte commercial ? Enzyte is a "natural male enhancement" thing/drug/supplement. The advertizing made comments that bordered on downright dirty. Something along the lines of "what you have in your sack" and visuals of all the women lining up to sit on his lap.

Total yuck!

Einin's Sock Monkey

She just needs eyes now. We stuffed her with a felt heart that we both kissed. :o)
Starting to make her a vest from some leftovers...
